2013 - New Year Resolutions / Goals

Hello :) Posting this a little early to save energy for new year, so here I go :)

Firstly, I would like to wish everyone a very happy new year :) I hope 2013 bring lots of good health, smiles and achievements :) Thank you to everyone who's helped me this year, my amazing friends, family and boyfriend :) I have gained many friends, and lost a few, but right now I feel like I have the perfect mix of lovely people in my life <3 p="p">

Once again, I have some amazing things to look forward to in 2013, and I've realised you just have to do what is right for you at this very moment. Live for now. I did have some things I was really excited about which I didn't achieve this year, like going abroad and the Olympics, but I'm going to try the things that I can again, and just keep up the determination!

My Resolutions/Goals for 2013

This year, I managed to save up all my change until the end of the year (£44!), and used it to buy bath bomb/bath salt things :) I love making them, and will use them & give them to my friends :) Possibly sell a few too! So this year, I want to keep saving my pennies again, as it really gave me a boost ordering some nice things for me to do!
I completed 50hour of volunteering in 2012, which makes the total just over 1,500h! I Would like to at least equal my 50 hours voluntary work, and hopefully do some work for a new charity I'm in contact with, helping children with cancer by giving them art boxes in hospital & such like :)
Linking to my voluntary work, I would like to again raise money & awareness for MEAW. I have some things planned already which I'm really excited about!

Choose a friend, once a month, and send them a little package to cheer them up :)
Make more of an effort to keep in contact with my friends / be a better friend
Drive my new car which I get in March! Preferably to Starbucks as I've never done that before!
Do the Sport Relief (3) Mile again, and the Great North Run!!
Blog every week, W will probably have a new post every weekend hopefully!
Do little stretches every evening, most likely not like this (ha!) but the splits would be awesome to do again!
*Major major long shot* But walk for the first time in 4 years to the nearest post box, just up the road a bit. You never know, right?

I have so much I want to achieve, and with little baby steps and lots of time, I'm sure I will :) What are you wanting to achieve in 2013?

Sending all my love, have a happy new year!

Winter is coming..

Hello :)

Today is just a short post, as I'm resting super hard so I don't relapse, and so far it's successful  Just want to enjoy Christmas :) It was -2 when I woke up yesterday, all cold and icy, and all I wanted to do was wrap up warm and snuggle into bed!

So, here's what I wore yesterday to keep me nice and toasty..
Alpaca gloves, they're my best buy ever! Help keep my wrists warm and therefore help my pain :)

Gorgeous plum colour chunky scarf from river island, it's so soft and I love the colour!

Thick knitted tights, I got mine from M&S in the super soft range so they're nice to my legs
And, I wore an emerald green swallow dress (can't find an online photo) which I adore, and of course, a nice big hoodie on top courtesy of my boyfriend ;)

I also have an ingenious pair of earmuffs for when I go outside, which are also headphones!

So, keep warm this winter, and, stay fashionable in the process ;)

I've been planning my final textiles piece which is quite exciting really, I will share once it's been marked in January, but I love love love it :) I'm also doing a few Christmas fair's to sell some of my jewellery and crafts, which so far are going super well :) Catching up with orders at the moment so hopefully everything will be sent by early December, then I can relax!

Hope you're all keeping well,

lots of love, Kate x

Hello lovely ones :)

I apologise for not posting for a few weeks.. I've been very busy (kinda good, kinda bad) so had no spare energy! But, having a bed day today and got the energy to come on the laptop, so I'd thought I'd update you all :)

Soo.. what's been happening these past few weeks!

Start with the negatives first.. I've been in hospital, quite a lot. I went in for tilt table testing, turns out I have vasovagal syncope so getting another tilt test and 24h blood pressure monitoring soon.. Went in for a very tough day of testing for my stomach which is playing up again.. And besides all the other hospital appointments and visits, I think I've only been in a&e once due to immense pain these past few weeks. So not to bad for me ;)

Positives - all I care about really ;) Well, it was my boyfriends birthday which was lovely :) We went to see Michael McIntyre! I also went a long to a rugby match :) And, I went to Boots to do nail art for Children In Need, and raised a good amount of money which was really great :) Annnnnnd, at the end of October, I performed in the pantomime which I loved :)

So, been a very busy month or so.. Obviously paying for it, but totally worth it! Now I'm just settling down back to my 'normal' routine of not doing very much, give my body a chance to heal!

Anyways, today's blog post will be about nails :') After spending 2 hours in Boots doing nail art for Children In Need, I know can tell you what the best nail varnishes are - and what's hot this season!

Magnetic Nail Varnish
For all those who don't have the time, energy or skills for nail art - this is perfect. Basically, you apply a THICK coat (after doing this many times, I worked out the thicker the polish, the greater the effect!) of nail polish, and carefully hover the magnet over your nail (without touching it!) for about 10 seconds to produce designs like these. You can get different colour nail polish, and different magnetic designs :) Personally, my favourite brand for this is '17' and that's the one I would recommend for this!

Crackle Nail Varnish
Again, good for those without the time, energy or skills to do some basic nail art. Apply a base coat, then a colour of normal nail varnish of your choice. Once it's completely dry, apply one coat of the crackle nail varnish, watch it crackle, and then seal with a top coat of clear varnish. You can get the crackle effect in lots of designs, like crocodile, and also come in a variety of colours :) I do like O.P.I for this, but it's so expensive! So I go with Barry M, which is just as good!

Glitter Nail Varnish - (my favourite!)
I lovelovelove glitter nail varnish. Best brand by far is Barry M. Absolutely adore the stuff! As you can see, you can cover the whole nail with glitter, or, you can cover half to make a kind of two tone effect. I absolutely LOVE 'amethyst' which is my favourite one to have on my nails. But, all of them are great ;) Go buy them all, or send them to me ;)

'Gelly' Nail Polish
This has just been brought out Barry M, and it's a very high shine paint which looks like gel :) It comes in a lovely range of colours, and gives a very classy, elegant look.

6 Must Have Nail Varnishes for this season:

Barry M Amethyst

Barry M Black - really nice shade of black, as silly as it sounds! So shiny and sophisticated!
Barry M Gelly Watermelon
 Max Factor Bronze
 Max Factor Cappuccino
Nails Inc Trafalgar Square

Hope everyone is as 'ok' as they can be :)

lots of love, kate x

Hello :)

Well, it's feeling even more Autumnal! Leaves are changing colour, frost is setting in and the fog on the Tyne this morning is unbelievable! So, I've been snuggling up in bed with hot chocolate and cosy pj's ;)

Quite a lot has happened this last week :) Some amazing achievements which I will share with you :)

I started making cake pops! They are so tasty ;) I sold them at Dragons, and they all SOLD OUT! I made £10 for them too which I was happy about :)
I held a jewellery party :) It was an AMAZING evening and I got lots of orders! And, to make it 10 times better, my friends travelled to see me! ^^

I've been asked to do a course with Adobe!!!!
And, I've been Logo designing for quite a few people :)

So, exciting, exciting week :)

Today I'd thought I'd talk about Sign Language :) It's something I'm really getting into and actually enjoying loads! I've known the basic alphabet in BSL since I was young, but only lately I've taken more of an interest in it!

For my Dragons performance, I am singing and signing (eek) 'We Will Follow Him'. I love doing it, I'm so happy Wendy chose me to do the signing :) From that, I've actually learnt a whole load of sign language too :) Secondly, at college the person on the help support desk is actually deaf, and has an interpreter with him at all time. I try my best to sign things to him, sometimes he laughs at me attempts (and so do I!) but I can tell he's really touched by me at least attempting ;) So, I thought I would teach you how to do a few words in sign language today! :)

Thank you - Put your hand on your chin, and open forwards

Alphabet (It's pretty easy if you practise!)

Hope you're all doing okay, I've got a crazy amount of hospital testing/appointments coming up - wish me luck!

Welcome back Kate ;)

Ah, how I've missed blogging :( Hello everyone again..

Well, as you might have seen from my last (very brief) blog post, I've been quite poorly *everyone shout boo!* :( Delayed crash payback/awful tonsillitis/colds/relapses/general winter ME/ emotional stress/possible glandular fever.. means my body has been *trying* to fight extra hard and it made me literally stuck in bed for quite awhile.. But, good news is, I'm very slowly getting there :) I'm still not my best, having a lot more total bed days and I need to sleep / lie down in the quiet a lot but a lot better than before and still smiling :)

Anyways, since I'm recovering a bit, I'm hoping to blog once a week again (obviously depending on health), so every Saturday night I'll be doing a blog post, just if you're interested! I've got a lot of ideas / things I want to share so I'm looking forward to it!!

Well, despite the poorly-ness and extra resting, a few really nice things have happened!
I found out that a photo I entered in a competition came in the top 5 (3rd!) and is getting printed as a Christmas card to help raise money for ME research! I was absolutely buzzing from it! I'll let you know where you can buy them when I get more details :)

I'm also looking at getting a new car! *which is kind or good, kind of bad* At the moment I'm struggling to physically get in/out of my car and fit the wheelchair in, so, we're having a look at some larger cars which has actually been super exciting!
I went to see Disney On Ice last night which was the most AMAZING thing ever! I turned into a little kid when the show started :') We got a photo with Minnie & Mickey, ate snowcones, got some cool plastic cups, sang disney songs and generally had an awesome time. LOVED IT.
Seen some gorgeous deer in my garden..
Did some textiles work, and worked with the graphics teacher on my front cover :)
And, I have some lovely things coming up, like Panto week, Jewellery Party, Michael McIntyre, Christmas.. :) Will balance out all the hospital trips ;)
Now, for the actual blog post for this week!

Just in case you didn't realise, the leaves are changing colour. And, it's getting rather chilly. Which only means one thing, Autumn is here (mind you, it feels more like winter!) Because of that, I now think it's only acceptable to drink hot chocolate, wear big wooly jumpers and lie by the fire :')

I've bought a winter coat.. You like?

And, this I'm super proud of. I made this flower out of leaves :) Absolutely love it, and ended up making loads more!

Hopefully as my health improves, I'll be able to get out with my camera and take lots of photos of the gorgeous Autumn trees and scenery :)

Anyways, long blog post, so I'll leave it here :) See you all next week for my next post :)

lots of love, kate x

Beautiful pictures are developed from negatives in a dark room.. So if you see darkness in your life, be reassured that a beautiful picture if being prepared

Well, this week has been quite a week..

I haven't been my best to start off with, and then I was in a car crash. We're both relatively okay (apart from my neck/shoulder/arm which I have a rather attractive sling to wear!) but the car has been totally written off.. Big shock to us both, and definitely paying for it, but it just shows, things can be taken away from you at a blink of an eye.. But, I'm still smiling :) I've had lovely people keeping me happy :) My best friend Becca bought me flowers, my other best friend Becca got me a gorgeous balloon & Michael got my an amazing nemo cup & eeyore keyring ;) I have also been having lots of hugs, nice messages and planning new craft things so I'm still saying positive :) :)

Anyways, today's blog post is on photography :) I am really really enjoying photography at the moment! And  next week, hopefully, I'll be signed up after the interview to an amazing arts, design & craft qualification where I can really show and express both my love and talent for art :) Had such amazing feedback from people, and I cannot wait to show the world what I can do :)

Soo.. here's some garden photography :) With a few in the corn field across the road :) Will share some different ones soon too!
 for luck
 so elegant
 buzy bee
 busy bee
I sat in the middle of the field with my camera taking photo's

Want to look at some more? -

At the moment, as I'm quite poorly, a lot of my photo's are taken in my front garden, or in the village. but, once I can get out more, their will be some exciting adventures and pictures to share!

Olympic Fever

Hello lovely's :)

Been a little while since my last post.. trying my best to make them more regular though as I am *trying very hard* to get on the laptop for half an hour once a week!

So, little update. I seem to be quite poorly again *booooo* but resting loads to try not go into relapse! I got a B in my maths AS level which was a huge achievement, even though I'm resitting that last paper because I know I can do much better ;) I can now sing and do sign language at the same time, and will be performing it on stage scaryandexciting! And, I'm doing a revamp of my jewellery & crafts business, which I'll post more on in a few weeks time - as well as pictures of me making bathbombs/soaps/newprouducts :) :) :) So, despite being extra poorly still achieving things which feels brilliant :) :)

Anyways, Olympics! Everyone has been talking about it, I know, but I really really enjoyed it :)

I always look forward to the Olympics, where ever it is. But in my home country? That's something special! Being stuck in bed / sofa most of the time, I am getting a bit sick of dvd's and 'Come Dine With Me' along with the other programmes I usually watch through the day! When the olympics is on though, I love it! It doesn't take up much energy, but at the same time it is interesting :) Even though unfortunately I didn't make it down with my family to see it, I was there cheering at my tv dressed all patriotically! I also loved hearing the stories about where the athletes had come from, and what amazing progress they'd made whilst turning their life around. Was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and I was definitely proud to be British - as cheesy as it sounds! From the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony, I was hooked to the TV and got majorly excited every time Team GB got a medal! I also think that it has brought our country together a bit, and the new arena's will give so many opportunities to up and coming stars!

Leading on from that, even though I didn't make it to London, I got to see some of the Team GB rowers! They happened to be in a town about 10mins away from me whilst I was going for a push along the river *lucky or what!* They came over, had a really nice conversation, took photos and let me hold an Olympic medal! What absolutely lovely athletes!

 Holding an olympic medal :)
Here I am with Matt Wells :)

Now, I am all excited for the paralympic games too! And as they say, 'thanks for the warm-up' ;)

I've decided to do a 'photo of the week' and a 'make of the week' :) Will occasionally keep posting craft projects but my brain is struggling to write fluent instructions ;)

Photo of the week:

Check out my photography page -
Very excited about my photography, been asked to submit some pictures for a magazine which I'm super excited about!

Make of the week:

rings,rings,rings <3 p="p">

Hope everyone is okay, got a lot of nice things in store for blog posts coming soon!
